Welcome to the USS Veritas!
After two years on border patrol, the USS Veritas is called back to Starbase 12 to meet with Commodore Haldane, a no-nonsense Starfleet officer with plenty of line experience. She's no micro manager and her favorite expression? " I'll give you enough rope to solve the problem. Try not to hang the Federation with it.."
Seems a group of scientists on Archanis IV have gone silent and while it could just be a case of being absent-minded, the USS Veritas has been tasked with finding out what's going on. Do they need a lecture? Help with their communications equipment? Or has something happened to them?

The security department gathered in formation, waiting for their new security chief. Unease settled over them as they started talking. The talk consisted of rumors about their new Chief and also a whole lot guessing, about any possible changes that was going to take place. Standing around the corner eavesdropping, Abraham simply smiled to himself. Nothing about what was taking place was considered abnormal and, in all honesty, was expected. Finally turning the corner, he approached the formation.
"Department attention!!!" an Ensign called out. The entire department, in unison, snapped right to the position of attention.

Brad and Anna waited in silence as the lift brought them up to the station's command centre. There wasn't much for them to talk about; neither of them knew why Haldane called them, and Brad knew that Anna didn't really engage in speculation.

"From what I hear they're still trying to sort out our Chief Engineer," Bayre said to his First Officer as he neatly sidestepped a harried crewman who wasn't at all looking where they were going. The breath that followed as Anna removed the surgical instruments was quiet. This was the eighth time she and T'Rel were practising this procedure. "What is to your dissatisfaction this time, Doctor?" She asked while placing the instruments back onto the tray.
The Vulcan glanced up as her keen hearing caught the sigh. "Your precision was off by half a millimetre," T'Rel replied. The two had been working on this procedure for the last few hours. "If this is frustrating you, we can resume later, Elonat."

Five miles on the running track and early enough that he had the track to himself. Time to think. That was how he described it to anyone who asked him ... why ... in that exasperated tone of voice non-runners always used. Time to think He set a pace that had him finished in just under forty minutes which was, by his calculations, an eight-minute mile. The Treaty of Organia has both us and the Klingon Empire on edge and while we've had a few tense encounters, our route has been relatively peaceful. Still, after two years on border patrol the crew is more than ready for shore leave. And, as luck would have it, we were ordered to Starbase-12 to meet with the Commodore Margaret Haldane about a new assignment. Should be arriving within the next hour or so.
I'm appending to this log security's report on recent minor infractions among the enlisted members of the crew. Nothing particularly serious though more frequent in number.…
